Use your life to add color to brighten the world. Your contribution might not be through actual painted artwork if that is not your talent but be assured you have a talent that draws people to you.
When I look at the faces of my family and friends, each one brightens my world with possibilities, and I find myself drawn to them. When I think about how they enrich my life, I realize they add color, enrich my surroundings, lighten my mood, and illuminate the positives.
Our youngest daughter, Kat, loves pictures. Daily she texts me images of the grandchildren; they appear randomly on my phone and bring a smile to face. I cherish these because they include me in their lives and share moments that create memories.
Kat’s other talent is creating videos. Couple this with her sense of humor, and she produces masterpieces. The first link below is a montage of what it’s like to drive with a toddler in the car who is not only learning to talk but loves to talk. The second link is a review of summer activities. Her reels provide joy and color my world with happiness.
Randy is my husband of 42 years and life would be dark and boring without him. I never know what to expect from him, but the anticipation keeps me wanting more of him in my life. If I say, “Let’s go down that slide,” he is the first to join the line. When we found some sunglasses that I thought Kari would like but wasn’t sure, he put them on, had me take a picture, and asked her if she liked them. We had to assure her they were for her and not him.
For some people simply being themselves is enough to positively impact the lives of others. All Randy requires to inspire others is his sense of humor, love of adventure, and belief that people matter. He creates art every time he enters a room.
Kari adds energy to her home through her plants and painting. Both the inside and outside are thriving with life. Visitors to her home are greeted with life both from her attitude and her foliage.
Her paintings are often of flowers or succulents. But whatever she paints, there is always a message behind the image. The painting at the top of this article was painted by her without the use of a paint brush. Through exploration with random items from around the house, the shapes combined to create a beautiful bouquet. Can you find the Lego print or the outline of the Barbie shoe?
A succulent is a plant that grows in unfavorable conditions. They live in dry, hot temperatures such as deserts with limited water available. These plants are drought resistant. They thrive even though their environment challenges their very existence. That is the message I take away from this piece of art. Kari has a room designated for her crafts filled with plants and artwork.
As you probably already know, my contribution to others comes in the form of stories. People and events teach me the art of being human. Writing allows me to share the joy and lessons of life with others. I publish a newsletter that is available to subscribers at 8 am every morning. It offers an opportunity to consume some inspiration and a smile with your morning coffee.
